An invitation to beta test Battlefield 3 will be included in a Medal of Honor Limited Edition that will also include additional perks, announces Electronic Arts, the first overt confirmation of development of the next installment in DICE's military shooter series other than an offhand reference to investors by EA's John Pleasants and another comment by Fredrik Liliegren, co-founder and former CEO of DICE. EA Games and the Medal of Honor Website have a bit more on the BF3 beta offer, which for some reason is contingent on the launch of testing within twelve months of the release of Medal of Honor, currently scheduled for Oct. 12, 2010 in North America and Oct. 15 in Europe. Here is the stipulation: "Beta offer is contingent on Beta availability within 12 months of Medal of Honor release. Beta will be available for a limited time only and offer expires upon close of Beta events. Participation in Beta requires acceptance of Beta Agreement. Must be 18+. Xbox GOLD membership required for Xbox users. Check this site for further details when available."

Interview With Antic Entertainment On Junk Battles on Gaming Union talks with some developers from Antic Entertainment, creators of the browser-based RTS game Junk- Battles, including Fredrik Liliegren, co-founder and former CEO of DICE. Liliegren also discusses the Battlefield series, though his NDA still prevents him from making any real revelations. He does say he thinks Battlefield 3 will impress: "What the PC version is going to be, Battlefield 3, I think it's going to absolutely blow everyone away, but I can't tell you what it is, but it will blow people away."

Battlefield Bad Company 2's beta process has been a bit of a mess, but today DICE put PC owners out of their misery, providing details on when their version of the game's beta will get underway.
It'll begin tomorrow, January 28, and will commence at 1800CET, 1200EST and 0900PST. You'll be able to grab it from several locations, from EA to Steam.
The Xbox 360 version of the beta is now online.

This unconfirmed report (EA responded to questions about this with a "no comment"), is said to be based on a Adobe Acrobat document intended for investors, and lists details, including a return to the near-present setting of BF2, and word on weapons, vehicles, and clas.ses. According to their report the game will be announced in January, released before the end of 2008, and will possibly involve a public beta during the summer.

Not knowing how many of you are interested in this game, I put up a BF2142 server for us to use for awhile.
It should be located at 60.41.248.236
Post here when you find it and if it running OK.
I've left the BF2 server running to stress out the server.
